Job Title:  Manager of Scheduling
Annual Salary:  $50,000- $60,000

DEFINITION:
Manage the daily operations of the Scheduling Department.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Under general supervision, manage scheduling of MATA services, data collection program, and related functions.
  2. Develop and implement efficient, cost-effective bus schedules and run cutting options; continuously monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures.
  3. Manage and supervise departmental personnel as assigned.
  4. Develop and analyze daily and monthly reports.
  5. Make recommendations for the scheduling of MATA services, new runs, run cuts, and run modifications.  Assist with identifying the number of required employees needed to operate passenger services.
  6. Prepare and update timetables/schedules, and system map.
  7. Manage daily data collection program for monitoring existing services, e.g. operator checks, NTD checks, etc.
  8. Administer operator sign-ups.
  9. Assist with design, implementation and on-going support of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) program.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Assumes additional responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Transportation, Engineering, Planning, Computer Science or related field preferred. Overall work experience may be considered in lieu of advanced education.

Other:

Minimum 3-4 years progressively responsible experience in Transportation administration and operations.  Considerable knowledge of applicable federal policies, laws and regulations.  Must possess strong organizational and analytical skills. Must possess good oral and written skills and be experienced in labor union matters. Requires ability to handle numerous activities at one time. Must be proficient in the use of a personal computer, Trapeze, Microsoft Word and Excel. Must have a valid driver’s license.

Environment:

Extensive sitting is required in the course of a normal business day. During run/vacation picks, extensive  standing is required. Must be able to withstand exposure to weather, dust, engine fumes and extreme noise levels.  Extensive sitting, standing and walking are all required in the course of a normal workday.  May be required to lift or push 40 lbs. Requires ability to hear telephones and directions given; visually perform essential functions for satisfactory job performance.  Ability to view visual display terminal.   Requires flexibility of fingers for data entry.
